Time to ACT! Join the CAT!
Our bargaining power is our organizing power.
In order to build the mass participation we need to win a strong contract next year, graduate workers across campus are joining the Contract Action Team (CAT) to make sure our coworkers are ready to fight for the pay and benefits we all deserve. As we begin the fall quarter, it is critical that every graduate worker at Stanford is engaged and aware of what is at stake. It is only through an active, dedicated CAT that we can win a strong second contract.
As a CAT member, you will:
- Visibly participate: wear union gear, hand out stickers and put up flyers around your workspace, attend important collective actions, and be a visible union supporter.
- Keep others informed: talk to coworkers about the contract fight, ask about their priorities, answer questions, and address concerns.
- Mobilize coworkers: make sure colleagues know the stakes of this contract fight, are participating in shaping our contract priorities, and are standing together to put pressure on Stanford through rallies and other direct actions — up to and including a strike if justified and necessary.
- Expand the CAT: identify coworkers who can do all of the above in their own lab, cohort, floor, teaching team, or other group of workers, and recruit them to join the CAT.
